Tyler Massey is a lifelong music educator offering lessons for:

guitar, piano, music theory and bass guitar

(and almost anything else having to do with learning to read music)

Having dedicated his life to music, Tyler Massey has shared his passion with students for decades. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Guitar and Piano from Marshall University in 1992 and has been happily guiding people on their musical journeys ever since.

Specialising in demystifying all things musical, Tyler helps students connect to a lifelong source of joy.

He can help you with any aspect of learning music: learning to read music, prepare for grade exams (ABRSM and Trinity College London) but, most importantly, he can teach you HOW it all works in a simple and straightforward way.

His holistic approach to teaching music incorporates a variety of proven methods, including using Musescore notation software as well as his own bespoke colour system designed to enhance and hasten learning for new readers.

He has an unbroken track record of success: none of Tyler's students have ever failed a grade exam, and the vast majority have achieved 'merit' results.

Tyler does his best to keep things fun and fosters a joyful feeling of accomplishment that comes from playing an instrument well. Lessons are all held in his own custom-built studio, filled with all the resources needed to keep 21st century minds engaged. Online lessons can also be arranged for people who cannot travel (Teams or Zoom).

Tyler offers very competitive pricing compared to teachers in nearby cities. Crucially, he teaches guitar and bass students to read standard notation, not just tablature.

Students must be over six years, please. Lessons are offered in his studio only.
